Kadiri Ikhana's Bribery Allegation

I was really surprised that most people would pretend as it the comment creditted to the out-going, successful and winning coach of Kano Pillars was a comment made from the pit of hell.

Every reasonable watcher of the Nigerian Globacom Premier League soccer knows that what Ikhana said was the truth, except perhaps the big bosses at the football house who are already screaming their heads off and calling for the coach's head for being courageous enough to bell the cat.

Every coach knows that you must bribe your way through to make any success of your match when the officials of the NRA are always out to get their on share of the national cake as shared out by the governments of the different states that own the clubs that play in the Nigerian League.

Instead of trying to deny the obvious, l think the NFA and NFL should try to make our leaguie more professional in outlook. They should lure the business mogues in Nigeria and abroad to invest in the clubs and see what comes out of it when they begin to treat eveything as real professionals.

Go to Spain, Italy,England, Portugal, Brazil, France, Germany,Holland etc where football is treated as a true business and see how things are done there.

Are they immune to bribery allegations?

No...

But they are trying their best to minimize it by paying their match officials real money and guarantee their safety by providing adequate security at match venues.

There is real bribery in the Nigeria Football League.

Let nobody pretend to be holier-than-thou!

2010 World Cup Qualifiers:Nigeria On The Match Again

l was delighted to watch the first match of the 2010 World Cup/Nations Cup qualifying match played between Nigeria and South Africa.

That was a match indeed,if you ask me!

But, l have my grudge...
Why did the coaching crew not warn Ike Uche to stop the excessive
dribbles?

Look, that boy was good that day, but he needs to be warned that
when his team desires more goals he should just do a one-two ball and create chances for those among his teammates who are well placed and ready for his pass to do the
damage and 'Kill' the opponents once and for all.

All the same , l give kudos to all of the players especially John Utaka and Mikel Obi who wasted no time that day.

Did you also notice, like l did, that Mikel did not do (at least not as he usually does) all those killer back-pass that day?

If the Eagles continue like this and improve on their performances, then we shall be home and dry before the last qualifying match on like what happened in the last World Cuip qualifiers.

Shuaibu Amodu As Super Eagles New Coach?

There has been a lot of speculations in the media both the (print and broadcast)that the new coach for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles would likely be the former coach, Shuaibu Amodu.

The culture of recycling has been with us for a long time and we don't seem to be ready to do away with it.

Well, l'm not in favour of using someone who has lost contact with the football tactics of the modern world for some time now(except if you can tell me convincingly that Shuaibu Amodu had gone on study leave in recent time).

It is a pity that we do not seem to be getting our bearings well in this nation called Nigeria .

It would really be interesting to see the way the likes of Anichebe, Dan Shittu and Etuhu, who were based in Europe and who have never played under a totally local coach like Shuaibu would react to this.

I'm waiting like all others who want to see the result of the 3-man wisemen panel set up by the NFA to select a coach for the rest of the 120 million Nigerians.

Aftermath of the UEFA Champions League's Quarter-final Lost :Arsenal Must Buy Super Strikers

From all indications there is the need for Arsene Wenger, Arsenal FC's Manager to buy new strikers to the club come the next season.

Emmanuel Adebayor is not truly the striker that the club should solely depend upon to bring in the goals especially as displayed in both legs of the quarter-final matches between the club and Liverpool.

Arsenal should have actually won the game even during the first leg if not for the many unnecessary misses of Adebayor who was regarded as the top striker of the team.
He did the same in the second leg when he shouls have added to the goal scored by Abou Diaby in order to sink Liverpool even in their own backyard.

However, as usual, he fumbled and missed a lot of changes that were created by Flamini and Fabregas.

Every fan of Arsenal, including those die-hard Liverpool supporters too, held their hearts in their hands and put their hands on their heads screaming over the losses made by Adebayor.

For the remaining part of the season, it is somehow clear that it is not likely that Arsenal will win any silverware the way things are going except perhaps if a miracle happens.

Arsenal: The Law Of Diminishing Returns?

I wonder what has been happening to the Gunners ever since they defeated the defending champions of Europe- AC Milan.

To say the truth, it was as if they really played their hearts out in that memorable match in San Siro.
But ever since their return too the Premier League things have not been the same again. They had played some many draw games than most of their counterparts in the first four position. While Arsenal was managing last minutes draws even at the Emirates Stadium, the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea have been defeating most of their opponents.

The Gunners really need to buckle up and find their rhythm if they truly want to achieve any silverwares for this season.

These young lads have played very impressively hard and the best reward should be for them to get something to crown their efforts with.

Well, we wait to see that happen more so when they are now in the thier position on the league table as at the time of writing.

Thank God Vogts Is Gone!

The news of Vogts' sack came to some of us as no surprise at all.
In fact it was long expected even before the nations' cup in Ghana.
Or what do you do to a manager who never tries to improve your country's
soccer development in the true sense of it?

My thinking is that Vogts lasted for that long because there are probably
some of the big wigs of the Football Association in Nigeria who may be having an under-cut in his salaries.

Because of the money they were making from his salaries, they wouldn't have allowed him to go away just like that without them milking from his 'cow'.

Now that he has been sent packing, l heard that some lawyers are fronting for him and pulling trouble with NFA.To me, there is no big deal in that as he wil be fighting with a whole nation and not individuals as some will be thinking.

Let the real game begin.

The legal battle should be very interesting.
